This is exactly the sort of news we love, the rumour of a new mobile from Nokia which in this case, is an adaptation of the excellent 5800 XpressMusic! The rumour is Nokia are planning the release of the 5530 in September and that it will be a stripped down, even more competitively priced, touchscreen mobile phone.

It’s set to be a little smaller than the 5800, as it’s rumoured to have a 2.9″ screen rather than 3.2″, but the 3.2 megapixel camera, 3.5mm jack plug, FM RDS radio and MicroSD card slot look to have been retained. Both the Symbian S60 5th Edition operating system and Wi-Fi also return, however the 5530 will be 2G and will not have the 5800’s GPS receiver.

The temptingly low price of the 5800 XpressMusic makes it a very popular phone, so to strip out GPS and 3G will likely make the 5530 something of a bargain, plus it’s no secret how great the 5800 is to use, so expect this as-yet unnanounced Nokia touchscreen phone to be extremely popular should it get its September release!
